Hurricane Ridge Tour

Hurricane Ridge, probably named for some ferocious winds, seems to be anything but! Only a few short miles from Port Angeles, you start your drive into the beautiful Olympic National Park. The scenery changes dramatically as you enter a forest full of deer that graze along the roads and an amazing panorama of steep mountains that offers views of cliffs, valleys, and amazing vistas of the Straits of Juan de Fuca. You'll see ships traveling to distant continents, P-3 Orions practicing for duty in foreign lands and guarding against submarine attacks, and our beautiful San Juan Islands and Canadian Gulf Islands.

Bring your sunglasses and a warm wrap as the weather can range from snow flurries to bright sunshine. For the more adventurous souls there is skiing and a famous lodge at the end of the road. Bring along hiking shoes if you would like to venture off on one of the many trails. Your camera is a must for you will want to bring home all your memories of this beautiful place.

The adventure begins on Monday at 8:30AM (an ideal time to catch the wildlife during their morning feedings). We will have one van and anyone else who wishes to drive their own vehicle can join the caravan (admission fee is $15 per vehicle).

And like Smokey says, "only you can prevent a dull Esprit!"

Pool Tournament

Pool tables have always gone hand in hand with adventure, vice, and women of mystery. Usually it's the men who own the room, but at Esprit things are a bit different.

Imagine a roomful of short-skirted hoochies competing fiercely for the prized title of Esprit Pool Tournament Champion. A 20's gangster moll here, a film noir femme fatale there, and a biker chick over by the bar...drop them all into a small pool hall, and you have the Annual Esprit Pool Tournament.

This year we move to a new venue because of the closure of last year's venue. Mr. Fong, the owner of The New Peking nightclub (directions), lounge, pool hall, and restaurant welcomes Esprit with a private night (it's normally closed Monday) and special food and drink perks and 5 pool tables.

This is a friendly tournament and everyone has plenty of opportunities to play regardless of skill level. Get familiar with the rules for Coin Operated 8 Ball and contact Stephanie, the pool tournament coordinator, if you have other questions.

Back at the Red Lion, many attendees also enjoy hanging out in the hotel bar which truly becomes one of the hottest and most interesting places in town during the week of Esprit.

On Tuesday we have more fun...

ESPRIT, ESPRIT GALA and ESPRIT 2010 relate only to the yearly transgender conference
